Add Nature's Sweetness to Your Salads

Honey makes a delicious ingredient in both desserts and main courses alike. Actually, one of the easiest and most nutritious ways to consume honey is in your salad! Honey easily mixes with oils and other condiments, plus, by consuming raw honey you maximize the health benefits. Raw honey includes healthful live enzymes and heat-sensitive vitamins that would otherwise be lost in cooking.

So why don’t you make your own dressing thats natural and healthy?!

Here are some recipe ideas for including nature’s sweetness in your salads! We recommend using raw organic honey if possible. For smaller portions, cut the recipe size in half.


Ginger Sesame & Soy Dressing

1 inch piece of fresh ginger root, minced
2 Tablespoons raw honey
1/4 cup soy sauce*
1/4 cup lime juice
2 Tablespoons sesame oil
1/4 cup olive oil (or other vegetable oil)
Salt and black pepper to taste
optional: grated lime rind

*note - Use regular soy sauce or tamari. Do not use sweet soy sauce as the dressing will be too sweet!

To make: Finely mince the fresh ginger root, then mix together with the honey and lime juice. Mash these ingredients together until the honey and lime juice arer combined. Add in the soy sauce, sesame oil, olive oil and blend together. Add in salt and pepper to taste and, if you like, use a fine grater to add some lime zest!


Honey Balsamic Vinaigrette

1 Tablespoon raw honey
2 Tablespoons Balsamic Vinegar
1/4 cup olive oil
Salt and pepper to taste
optional: 1 tsp dijon mustard
optional: minced garlic

To make: Mix together the honey and the balsamic vinegar until combined. If adding mustard and / or garlic stir these in next. Finally mix in the olive oil then and add salt and black pepper to taste.


Passion Fruit & Ginger Tropical Salad Dressing

The fruit of 2 medium-sized passion fruits
1 inch piece of fresh ginger root
2 Tablespoons lime juice
1/4 cup olive oil
1 Tablespoon raw honey
Salt and black pepper to taste

To make: Mince the ginger finely, then mix together with the lime juice and honey to make a paste. Add the passion fruit filling and olive oil, stirring together. Then add salt and pepper to taste.
