Donate a Hive

Every additional hive helps us to increase honey production and support Maasai women beekeepers, while also supporting native African honeybees. The women manage 4 apiaries across Ololosokwan Village and your hive donation can become the newest addition!

When you donate a hive, a new Langstroth beehive with your name on it will be added to our apiary!*

With more beehives, Maasai Honey is able to:

  • Increase production capacities for both honey and beeswax.

  • Support the conservation of native, East African bees (apis mellifera scutellata).

  • Empower more underserved women as beekeepers and honey processors.

These Langstroth hives are 100% wood and made locally in Arusha, Tanzania! We are proud to source our hives from local carpenters, so that these donations support not only female beekeepers, but also the local economy!

Donating a hive makes a great gift for bee lovers and philanthropists!

The cost to donate a hive is $100 USD. This incudes the cost to purchase the hive and the costs of transporting the hive to Ololosokwan Village.

*Due to the remote location of Ololosokwan Village, transportation availability is unpredictable. We will be sure to send a photo of your hive once it reaches the village, but this may take a few weeks. We thank you for your understanding.
